Deion Sanders Suspends Former FSU Football Transfer From Colorado Buffaloes

Former Florida State defensive tackle Bishop Thomas has been suspended indefinitely by Colorado head coach Deion Sanders for violating team rules. According to Buffs Beat, Thomas was suspended before the end of the 2023 season.

The Bishop Moore Catholic standout was part of Florida State’s 2022 recruiting class. He chose to transfer to Colorado following the spring before his second season in Tallahassee.

Thomas’s status is “still being evaluated” for the 2024 season with the Buffaloes, as mentioned in the Amazon Video docuseries “Coach Prime.”

In the 2022 season for the Seminoles, Thomas played in two games and recorded an assisted tackle against Boston College during their 44-14 win in Doak Campbell Stadium.

In 2023 with the Buffaloes, the 6-foot-2, 295-pound tackle played in nine games. He produced six total tackles – including two for a loss. His best game statistically was the Buffaloes’ win over Arizona State, where Thomas had three tackles and a tackle for loss. He also appeared on offense as a fullback in short-yardage situations.

As for Florida State’s defensive tackle room, they will be losing some important pieces this offseason, including Braden Fiske, Malcolm Ray, and (depending on a waiver) Dennis Briggs.

The defensive tackle group, as currently constructed, will include at least six scholarship players consisting of redshirt junior Darrell Jackson, redshirt junior Joshua Farmer, redshirt sophomore Daniel Lyons, redshirt freshman KJ Sampson, true freshman Jamorie Flagg, and true freshman D’Nas White. Briggs’s status is still up in the air while Ray is openly exploring other options in the portal.

Former FSU linebacker DJ Lundy – who recently transferred to Colorado – is the most recent of the program to join Sanders in Boulder. The Seminoles have seen defensive end Derrick McLendon, linebacker Brendan Gant, cornerback Travis Jay, and safety Omarion Cooper previously transfer to the Buffaloes.
