Ex-NBA Player Still Getting Paid $93,000 Per Year By The Boston Celtics

According to Basketball News, the Boston Celtics are still paying Demetrius Jackson.

 

Demetrius Jackson most recently played in the NBA during the 2018-19 season when he appeared in six games with the Philadelphia 76ers.

 

That year, he averaged 3.7 points per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.

 

Jackson was initially the 45th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft out of Notre Dame by the Boston Celtics.

 

He played five games during his rookie year with Boston.

 

 

However, Jackson has still been getting paid $92,857 per year by the Celtics since the 2017-18 season due to the Celtics stretching out his $650,000 contract over seven seasons (h/t Basketball News and Spotrac).

 

Via Keith Smith of Spotrac in 2021: “Demetrius Jackson is on the Celtics books through 2023-24 at $92,857 per year.”

 

 

 

Jackson had a stellar three-year career with the Fighting Irish.

 

During his junior season, he averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 33.1% from the three-point range in 35 games (Notre Dame made the Elite 8.)

 

 

 

Over three seasons in the NBA, Jackson played for the Celtics, 76ers and Rockets.

 

He has a career average of 1.8 points per contest while shooting 48.6% from the field and 28.6% from the three-point range in 26 regular season games.

 

 

 

Jackson has also played in the G League and has career averages of 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 51.9% from the field and 31.7% from the three-point range in 70 regular season games.
