Travis Kelce’s Ex Maya Benberry Questions the ‘Authenticity’ of Taylor Swift Romance
The ex-girlfriend of NFL star Travis Kelce questions whether his relationship with Taylor Swift is truly “sincere” amid rumors of a romance between the two.
Maya Benberry has opened up about her ex-boyfriend after admitting she invited Swift to see him perform at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri, where the singer previously performed during her Eras tour.
Swift was then spotted watching Kelce while he played with the Kansas City Chiefs on September 24, leaving some fans in no doubt that the pair had developed a romance.
Since then, Kelce has addressed Swift’s appearance at the game, saying on his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce that she “looked amazing” and that everyone had “things nice to say about her”.
However, Kelce’s willingness to talk about his appearance and his potential connection to the singer has left Benberry skeptical about the authenticity of their relationship. Benberry dated Kelce in 2016 after the two met on Kelce’s reality show Catching Kelce. She was chosen from 50 women from 50 different states, all trying to win Kelce’s affections.
Seven years later, Benberry shared her thoughts on Kelce as a partner in an interview with Inside Edition, in which she claimed he was a “narcissist.”
“Most narcissists don’t change,” she added.
Benberry and Kelce dated for eight months before breaking up when Kelce was accused of cheating on her. With the NFL star now linked to Swift, Benberry said:
“The only reason I question the authenticity of this relationship is because he talks to the media a lot.”
Her decision to share her thoughts on the romance was not received favorably by Swift fans, with Benberry describing the fanbase as “aggressive”, “negative” and “hypocritical”.
“It’s crazy that someone who I think is positive and really kind has such a negative and angry fan base,” she said. “I don’t know Taylor Swift but I’m a fan of her music. I have no feelings about her dating Travis, that’s cute, I mean I had him first so …”
Benberry continued to insist that she is not “jealous” or “bitter” about Swift, adding:
“My problem is more with Travis and the feeling of ‘now you’re trying to turn me into a bitter person or a liar,’ like I’m delusional, and I’m the furthest thing from that.” there.”
When Inside Edition reached out for comment on the cheating allegations, Kelce did not respond.
