Jay Weinberg gives dad Max a break during Springsteen and E Street Band show in Barcelona

ย

I got this one, Dad!

ย

Jay Weinberg, son of drummer Max Weinberg, subbed for his father on โ€œRadio Nowhereโ€ during the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band show on June 22 at the Estadi Oliฬmpic in Barcelona, Spain.

ย

Dad gave son a hug and kiss after the performance.

Damn! That boy can jam!โ€ commented a fan on the Spring-Nuts Facebook group in response to a video of the performance

Jay, 33, is an accomplished drummer in his own right. He temporarily took his father’s place for several shows during the 2009 โ€œWorking on a Dreamโ€ tour as Max was busy as the bandleader on โ€œThe Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

ย

In 2013, Jay sat with E Street during a โ€œRadio Nowhereโ€ performance in Germany.

ย

โ€œAn absolute joy to sit in tonight with my lifetime favorite band โ€” my family โ€” the people who forever changed my life 15 years ago,โ€ said Jay on social media regarding the June 22 performance. โ€œI love everyone on this stage. Unreal experience in Barcelona.โ€

ย

โ€œYou crushed brother!!! What a pleasure it was having you jump up and shred,โ€ said E Street percussionist Anthony Almonte.

ย

Jay, a Bayshore native, currently plays with Suicidal Tendences. He’s previously played with Slipknot, Against Me! and Madball. He racked up multiple drummer of the year awards and the appreciation of fans, but Slipknot announced Jay was departing due to a โ€œcreative decisionโ€ in November 2023.

ย

โ€œFor 33 years youโ€™ve made your mom and I 100% proud,โ€ said Max at the time. โ€œThis moment is no exception. Youโ€™re a class act! Love Dad.โ€
