Rory McIlroy’s new private jet reportedly flew from Detroit, Michigan to Farmingdale, New York. The plane was grounded in Detroit for more than a month before making the trip.

The report of McIlroy’s jet taking flight was posted by the X (formerly Twitter) account @radaratlas2, which tracks aircraft movements worldwide. Providing an update on the Irish golfer’s private jet, the account wrote:

“Rory McIlroy’s new airplane #N650MN is airborne. This is a 2022 Gulfstream G650ER. Today is the first time it has flown in over a month.”

In a subsequent post, @radaratlas2 mentioned the possible reason for Rory McIlroy’s plane spending so much time grounded in Detroit:

“The plane has been in Michigan for a month likely doing upgrades/customization work since it was owned by another company before Rory bought it.”

The same X account reported the plane’s arrival at Farmingdale two hours later.

According to @radaratlas2, McIlroy‘s new plane is a 2022 Gulfstream G650ER. The manufacturer’s official website reports that this model is considered among most reliable business jets in the world, with more than 500 units currently in service. The 650 ER is an extended-range model of the Gulfstream 650. The model was introduced in 2014 with 4,000 pounds more fuel than its predecessor, allowing it to achieve a range of 7,500 miles.
