Rumors about a possible one-off reunion show from heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath have been circulating in recent months, and now the bandโs drummer is chiming in.
ย
Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward parted ways with the metal legends in 2012 citing an โunreasonable contract,โ according to NME
ย
Ward was replaced drummer Tommy Clufetos after a falling out between Ward and Osbourne, according to Louder.
ย
However, the drummer said on social media this week that heโs โin for playing some of everyoneโs old favorites.โ
ย
โLoved playing them then, Iโd love to play them one last time,โ Ward wrote on X Thursday, July 25. โIโm not going to talk about my health publicly except to say, everyday Iโm pretty good for 76 years old, Iโm active musically every day, and I have a very busy and gratifying life.โ
ย
Original Black Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler have all expressed interest in the band playing one last reunion show.
ย
Earlier this year, Osbourne said he felt like Black Sabbathโs story was unfinished and that he would love to play with Ward again during an episode of The Madhouse Chronicles, a podcast series hosted by Osbourne and Billy Morrison.
ย
โIf they wanted to do one more gig with Bill, I would jump at the chance,โ Osbourne said, according to Louder. โI was sad that Bill wasnโt there. I mean Tommy Clufetos, my drummer, did a great job. But he ainโt Bill Ward.
ย
Iommi, who is the only constant member of Black Sabbath throughout the bandโs history, later responded to Osbourneโs comments during an episode of “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.”
ย
Hinting at the bandโs turbulent history and multiple line-up changes, the guitarist said, โWeโll be 90 by the time we do that.โ
ย
โItโd be a nice idea, but youโre going to get everybody going, โOh, theyโre doing it for the money. Theyโre doing it for this, theyโre doing it for that,โโ Iommi said. โWell, it wouldnโt be. I mean, itโd be something thatโd be a nice thing to actually do, but whether it happens will be another thing. But weโll see. I mean, who knows?โ
ย
Meanwhile bassist Butler said that he and Osbourne had โagreedโ to play one last concert, Blabbermouth reported in May.
ย
“Of course thereโs an interest [on my part to do it], but thereโs a big โbutโ โ youโd have to speak to Bill [Ward] about it,โ Butler reportedly said during another episode of โTrunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.โ
ย
โEverybody wants to do it [but I donโt know if he is] capable [of pulling it off],โ the bassist reportedly said.
ย
This came after Osbourneโs wife and manager Sharon Osbourne said the Prince Of Darkness was planning โtwo more shows to say goodbyeโ before he fully retires.
ย
However, Osbourneโs Parkinsonโs disease and recovery from multiple surgeries could make a reunion show for Sabbath difficult.
ย
Last November, Osbourne said a live comeback may not be possible due to his ongoing health issues.
ย
โIโm taking it one day at a time, and if I can perform again, I will,โ the 75-year-old told Rolling Stone UK at the time. โBut itโs been like saying farewell to the best relationship of my life.โ
ย
Osbourne said he was going through a โslow recovery processโ after his final operation in January, NME reported at the time.
