Rumors about a possible one-off reunion show from heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath have been circulating in recent months, and now the bandโ€™s drummer is chiming in.

ย

Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward parted ways with the metal legends in 2012 citing an โ€œunreasonable contract,โ€ according to NME

ย

Ward was replaced drummer Tommy Clufetos after a falling out between Ward and Osbourne, according to Louder.

ย

However, the drummer said on social media this week that heโ€™s โ€œin for playing some of everyoneโ€™s old favorites.โ€

ย

โ€œLoved playing them then, Iโ€™d love to play them one last time,โ€ Ward wrote on X Thursday, July 25. โ€œIโ€™m not going to talk about my health publicly except to say, everyday Iโ€™m pretty good for 76 years old, Iโ€™m active musically every day, and I have a very busy and gratifying life.โ€

ย

Original Black Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler have all expressed interest in the band playing one last reunion show.

ย

Earlier this year, Osbourne said he felt like Black Sabbathโ€™s story was unfinished and that he would love to play with Ward again during an episode of The Madhouse Chronicles, a podcast series hosted by Osbourne and Billy Morrison.

ย

โ€œIf they wanted to do one more gig with Bill, I would jump at the chance,โ€ Osbourne said, according to Louder. โ€œI was sad that Bill wasnโ€™t there. I mean Tommy Clufetos, my drummer, did a great job. But he ainโ€™t Bill Ward.

ย

Iommi, who is the only constant member of Black Sabbath throughout the bandโ€™s history, later responded to Osbourneโ€™s comments during an episode of “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.”

ย

Hinting at the bandโ€™s turbulent history and multiple line-up changes, the guitarist said, โ€œWeโ€™ll be 90 by the time we do that.โ€

ย

โ€œItโ€™d be a nice idea, but youโ€™re going to get everybody going, โ€˜Oh, theyโ€™re doing it for the money. Theyโ€™re doing it for this, theyโ€™re doing it for that,โ€™โ€ Iommi said. โ€œWell, it wouldnโ€™t be. I mean, itโ€™d be something thatโ€™d be a nice thing to actually do, but whether it happens will be another thing. But weโ€™ll see. I mean, who knows?โ€

ย

Meanwhile bassist Butler said that he and Osbourne had โ€œagreedโ€ to play one last concert, Blabbermouth reported in May.

ย

“Of course thereโ€™s an interest [on my part to do it], but thereโ€™s a big โ€˜butโ€™ โ€” youโ€™d have to speak to Bill [Ward] about it,โ€ Butler reportedly said during another episode of โ€œTrunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.โ€

ย

โ€œEverybody wants to do it [but I donโ€™t know if he is] capable [of pulling it off],โ€ the bassist reportedly said.

ย

This came after Osbourneโ€™s wife and manager Sharon Osbourne said the Prince Of Darkness was planning โ€œtwo more shows to say goodbyeโ€ before he fully retires.

ย

However, Osbourneโ€™s Parkinsonโ€™s disease and recovery from multiple surgeries could make a reunion show for Sabbath difficult.

ย

Last November, Osbourne said a live comeback may not be possible due to his ongoing health issues.

ย

โ€œIโ€™m taking it one day at a time, and if I can perform again, I will,โ€ the 75-year-old told Rolling Stone UK at the time. โ€œBut itโ€™s been like saying farewell to the best relationship of my life.โ€

ย

Osbourne said he was going through a โ€œslow recovery processโ€ after his final operation in January, NME reported at the time.
