The college football season got off to an interesting start last week, as four games were played during Week 0.

The first of those four games gave us the first upset of the year, as Georgia Tech took down No. 10 Florida State on a last second field goal.

With only four games to break down and analyze, Florida State has been under the microscope all week long after an embarrassing loss to start the season.

On Wednesday, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media for the first time since the loss. He took responsibility for the team’s failure in Ireland, and summed up their performance with one very pointed adjective.

โ€œItโ€™s sickening that we came up short in that game,โ€ said the head coach.

โ€œI take total responsibility and ownership for that. You go back and see the game and obviously itโ€™s my job to have the team prepared to go and play to the best of our ability, and I donโ€™t believe that was our best.โ€

Georgia Tech dominated the game on the ground, rushing for 190 yards to Florida State’s 98.ย

The Seminoles were held without possession for the final 6:33 of last Saturday’s game, and Norvell sees their late-game execution as an area of potential improvement.

โ€œIโ€™ve got a lot of confidence in our group,โ€ he said.

โ€œStill some things with it being our first game, you get a chance to continue to evaluate personnel and what are those best units.ย

Iย think thereโ€™s some opportunities for growth there for us as well just with who, when and where guys are playing. We will definitely be better in that regard.”

We’ll see how well the Seminoles are able to bounce back on Monday night when they take on Boston College in their first home game of the 2024 season.
