TWO-time world champion Adrian Lewis has announced a sensational return to darts.

 

The fan favourite has been out of the game for two years after stepping way from the oche in April 2023.

Lewis told supporters he was taking an indefinite break due to stress from darts while taking care of his ill wife Sarah.

 

Lewis said later on: โ€œDear all, in particular my fans, I feel that your loyalty deserves an explanation for my absence from tournaments.

 

โ€œAfter 20+ years I feel I need a break from the professional circuit for now. Massive thanks for the support from my fans and sponsors.

 

โ€œAlso Iโ€™d like to thank the PDC for the opportunity and last but not least my family. Cheers folks.โ€

However, Lewis has now declared that he is back in the game and ready to rumble against dartsโ€™ top stars.

 

Lewis will make his return in the Modus Super Series in May and canโ€™t wait to get cracking.

 

He said: โ€œHello, Iโ€™m Adrian Lewis, two-time back-to-back PDC and BDO darts champion.

 

โ€œI am looking forward to playing in the Modus Super Series sometime in May, so stay tuned.โ€

Despite his star status, Lewis will not be treated any differently to other darts hopefuls.

 

Once his time in the Super Series ends, he will not automatically regain his spot back on the PDC Tour.

And instead, he will have to earn his stripes competing through Q School.

 

 

Darts chief Barry Hearn said: โ€œAbsolutely none (special treatment). Nor can there be.

 

โ€œItโ€™s not about what you used to do โ€” itโ€™s about what you can do.

 

โ€œDoes he have to go through Q School? Yes. Weโ€™d welcome him back with open arms.
