Two weeks ago, they were having a historically bad season, allowing a league-worst 28.
6 points per game.
The Colts, who have lost three straight, scored 114 points, their highest three-game total since 2011.
Since then, the Colts’ defense has looked dramatically different.
Cornerback Kenny Moore II has scored more touchdowns (2) than Indy’s opponents (1) over the past two weeks.
“I think November and December is when we started playing our best football,” coach Shane Steichen said after Sunday’s 10-6 win over New England in Germany.
“The second half of the season, you learn things about your team.
So being 2-0 (November) and finding different ways to win, our defense has obviously stepped up the last two weeks.
” Two consecutive wins have restored the Colts’ confidence heading into the bye week.
They are 1 1/2 games behind AFC South leader Jacksonville.
Yes, Indy beat two of the four lowest scoring teams in the league, beating Carolina and New England, the worst teams in their respective conferences.
Nevertheless, this trend is likely to continue.
Indy has faced five of the NFL’s 10 worst offenses in the last seven games and currently plays a team more than one game above .
With a defense that ranks in the top six in the league in strip sacks (6), takeaways (16), sacks (30), and tackles for loss (61), the Colts have more chances than many to reach the postseason.
