One player the Red Sox could target this offseason is Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jonathan India, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic.
“Indian was the (National League) Rookie of the Year in 2021 hitting .
459 with 21 homers and 69 RBIs in 150 games,” Bowden said.
“In 2022, he only played 103 games because of injury, but still finished with 16 doubles and 10 home runs in 386 at-bats.
Last season, he was injured again but played 119 games, batting average .
407 (100 OPS+) with 23 doubles, 17 homers, 61 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.
“Room Stats His players are on a downward trend, but most analysts believe it has more to do with injuries than his ability.
India, who turns 27 next month, is referee-eligible, while the rest of the Reds are not, making him even more available.
The Red Sox, Blue Jays, Nationals and White Sox are among the teams that could benefit from an upgrade at second base and could look to make a deal.
Looks like the Indian takeover price isn’t very high.
His name has been the subject of trade rumors over the past year and it appears the Red Devils are ready to move on from him.
Boston has the potential capital to make a deal if they see fit, and Red Sox fans should pay attention.
