Red Sox Reportedly Have made their opinions clear To Highly Sought-After Hurler’s Agent About Signing

Boston reportedly has already spoken with one of the most sought-after free agents’ agents

Boston needs to drastically improve its starting rotation this offseason if the club wants to compete for a World Series title in the near future and it sounds like it will be active this offseason. The Red Sox have been linked to multiple top-tier starters already as possible fits. Boston also reportedly isn’t wasting any time and already has spoken to free agent hurler Jordan Montgomery’s agent about a possible move, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

“(General Managers) Meetings update: Red Sox officials have spoken with the agent for (left-handed pitcher) Jordan Montgomery, who posted a 2.79 ERA in 11 regular-season starts for the World Series champs,” Morosi said.

Montgomery has been mentioned as a possible fit for the Red Sox on multiple occasions. He already has been hinted at as a free agent option in recent weeks and even was floated as a trade candidate during the 2023 season before the St. Louis Cardinals traded him to the Texas Rangers.

The 30-year-old was stellar this season for the Cardinals and Rangers. He compiled an overall 3.20 ERA across 32 starts and was solid for Texas across the postseason as well. He would fit in well with the Red Sox if the club can get a move done. He has plenty of American League East experience after spending the first five-plus years of his career with the New York Yankees and a career 3.68 ERA in seven seasons.
