The three-time Pro Bowler hurt his hamstring during the Vikings‘ 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on October 8.

Jefferson was placed on Injured Reserve as reports at the time revealed he would miss four to six weeks of games.

Four weeks have gone by as the Vikings had the opportunity on Monday to open the 21-day window for the star wideout’s return.

However, Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell shared on Monday that the organization has not determined Jefferson’s status.

“We’re going to do what’s best for Justin, and make sure when he does return, he can be the Justin Jefferson we all know and can expect to see,” the 38-year-old said, via The Minneapolis Star Tribune.

If the Vikings open the 21-day window for Jefferson, they would have to activate him within the 21 days or place him on IR for the rest of the season.

It’s unlikely to happen this week as NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported the LSU product is “unlikely to play this Sunday against the Saints.”

Minnesota has gone 4-0 without Jefferson in the lineup after starting the season 0-3.

He had recorded 36 catches for 571 yards and three touchdowns in the five games this season.

The Vikings also lost Kirk Cousins in Week 9 as the veteran is out for the season with a torn ACL.

A 2020 first-round pick, Jefferson had made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons in the NFL.

He had his best season in 2022, leading the league in catches (108), 1,616 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
