Buffalo Bills named betting favorite as next team for Raiders superstar WR

When it comes to trying to bring a Super Bowl title to Western New York, Brandon Beane has hesitated to go all-in. The Buffalo Bills general manager explained in May that he wants the Bills competitive for the long-term.

“There are some moves that we could do that would say we’re all in for this year and then have a tear down,” Beane told Jim Rome. “We’ve been diligent with the cap to try to avoid that type of situation. It’s not easy, especially when you have a top 10 quarterback, great receiver, Tre White, Von [Miller] and some of these guys. Ultimately, we think we’ve got a plan to continue to go for it year after year and hopefully we can find a way to pull that title home for Buffalo sooner rather than later.”

While Beane’s vision to remain competitive for the long haul makes plenty of sense, the general manager could be tempted to veer off of that path if the right player were to become available. With the trade deadline looming, one player who is suddenly being discussed as a potential trade candidate is Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams, 30, has appeared frustrated with his role in Las Vegas.

“I’m a human being and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offense,” Adams said earlier this week. “I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you see why it’s an issue. Y’all should know who I am, know what I’m about at this point … when you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses — it’s greatness. So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That’s my purpose for being here. I’m not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way.”

Las Vegas is still in the playoff mix in the AFC at 3-3, but their victories have come against subpar competition (Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots). If the Raiders were to entertain a trade for Adams, could the Bills be in the mix?

It’s unknown how much interest the Bills would show in Adams, but BetOnline released betting odds on Adams’ next team and Buffalo came in with the best odds at 4-to-1.

If moved, any team acquiring Adams would be on the hook for $3.5 million this season and a $17.5 million guaranteed in 2024.

Adams joining Stefon Diggs in Buffalo would give the Bills the best 1-2 punch in the league at wide receiver. With Josh Allen at quarterback and a defense that has played lights out all season, Buffalo would go from Super Bowl contender to Super Bowl favorite if they were able to pull off such a move.

While pushing all of your chips to the middle of the table comes with risk, Brandon Beane would have to seriously consider acquiring Adams if the Raiders made him available.
