Jim Irsay provides a heartbreaking update on the injury to star rookie QB Anthony Richardson.

Richardon’s season is likely over, according to Jim Irsay.

In his first season, Richardson got off to a great start.

Without their star rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts may have to play the rest of the NFL season without him.
The team’s owner, Jim Irsay, recently discussed his worries about the player’s recovery with ESPN.

The most likely scenario, according to Irsay, is that he will be away for the entire year.
We will have to deal with the possibility that [he] will miss this year, even though it isn’t certain. This occurs after Richardson sprained his primary throwing shoulder’s AC joint in agony during a Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Richardson’s shoulder violently struck the ground when linebacker Harold Landry III tackled him, resulting in the unfortunate injury.

Gardner Minshew has taken over as the Colts’ primary quarterback since Richardson has been sidelined.
The team lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-20 this past Sunday, despite Minshew’s best efforts.

The team’s medical board has actively consulted with various medical specialists regarding Richardson’s injury.
A clear path to recovery, whether it be through surgery or rehabilitation, is still up in the air.
There is debate going on, but it’s likely going to lead to surgery in the next week or so, Irsay hinted that surgery might be the preferred course of action.
We are merely attempting to determine exactly how, when, and what Anthony wants us to do.
Richardson will have the final say in the matter, though.

An awkward conclusion for the no.
rookie year of the fourth pick.

Both Richardson and the Colts are particularly hurt by this setback. The gifted athlete, who came from Florida as the No. 4 pick in April’s draft, was quickly establishing himself in the league.
Richardson, who possessed both a deft throwing arm and strong running abilities, had already made an impression with his stats during the brief season: three passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns in five weeks.
With Richardson as their leader, the Colts have a respectable 2-2 record.

Richardson’s dynamic approach to the game, however, has put him at risk for several injuries in his brief NFL career.
Notably, this most recent injury to his shoulder makes it his third injury in as few as four starts.
An ankle and knee injury kept him out of his debut game.
He missed Week 3 as a result of a concussion sustained in Week 2.

The Colts are currently 3-3, one game behind the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars who are currently in first place.
It remains to be seen how Richardson’s potential absence will affect the team’s performance and goals for the rest of the season.
