On Sunday, the Maple Leafs’ locker room was filled with lots of glowing praise.

And when it came to Connor Bedard, the star rookie for the Chicago Blackhawks, they weren’t just making things up.

Auston Matthews, a star for the Toronto Maple Leafs, said at the Ford Performance Centre that he shoots the ball as well as anyone he has ever seen.
Although I don’t know him personally, his resume speaks for itself.

With Chicago as his opponent, Matthews could record the first-ever hat-trick.

Of course, the Leafs will be worried about more than just Bedard’s lethal shot—which, according to him in the past, he modelled after Matthews

Before he entered the league, Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe admitted that he “didn’t know his game that well.”.
“I’d say his game is much more dynamic and complete offensively than I had thought.
You might think of him as a shooter, but he also makes a lot of plays and drives the offense, and he has been doing that so far here, despite his inexperience in the league as a rookie.

We believe that much of that kind of stuff will be handled if our team’s defensive performance keeps progressing as we need it to. But it will undoubtedly face opposition.
