The Indianapolis Colts Might See Changes With This Former Third-Round Pick.

In the second half of the Cleveland Browns’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on August 26, 2023, Kellen Mond, the quarterback for the Browns, (7), throws a pass.

The Indianapolis Colts won’t likely ever use Kellen Mond on a snap, but anything can happen.
Following Anthony Richardson’s shoulder injury, the young quarterback was recently added to the Colts practice squad.
Richardson’s AC joint sprain occurred during the Tennessee Titans’ 23-16 victory over him on Sunday.
There is a 4-6 week absence predicted for the starting rookie quarterback.

Four quarterbacks—Mond, Holton Ahlers, Trace McSorley, and former Notre Dame standout Ian Book—were worked out by the Colts.
Since Richardson is out, Mond will presumably start for the team as their third-string signal caller.
Sam Ehlinger, a third-year player, will support starting quarterback Gardner Minshew.

The Indianapolis Colts Might Be Affected by Kellen Mond.

Kellen Mond: who is she?

You’ve probably never heard of Mond if you’re not a big fan of college football. The native of San Antonio hasn’t played much in the NFL.
Mond threw for 9,661 yards and 71 touchdowns during his four seasons with the Texas A&M Aggies.
Aside from that, he ran for 1,608 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Only three SEC quarterbacks have ever finished their college careers with at least 9,000 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards.
He was one of them.
The initial pair of athletes to achieve this feat were Tim Tebow and Dak Prescott.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Mond with the 66th overall pick in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The MVP of the 2021 Senior Bowl played for both the Cleveland Browns and the Vikings.
Nevertheless, as a rookie in Minnesota, he only attempted three passes in one regular season game.
During this year’s preseason, Mond was cut by the Browns.
P was chosen to be signed.
I.
J. Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson are the two quarterbacks ahead of Walker.

This season, he might be the Colts’ starting quarterback.

In the regular season, third-string quarterbacks rarely see the field. Still, Mond might end up being a member of the Colts roster this season. It is possible (hopefully) that Minshew will sustain injuries. Ehlinger would start in that scenario. Mond would start at quarterback if Ehlinger were to suffer an injury as well (cross your fingers).
Ehlinger’s performance last season didn’t exactly give fans hope for the future, even if he stays healthy.

A season ago, 29ers quarterback Brock Purdy, a third-stringer, rose to the position of quarterback.
Trey Lance, the starter, and Jimmy Garoppolo, the primary backup, both suffered injuries that made room for “Mr. “Irrelevant” to surface.
No, that’s not going to happen, but if the injury bug bites again, Mond might be under center and actually have an impact. Will he turn into the next Purdy and lead the Colts to a conference championship game?

Richardson and Mond resemble each other somewhat.
In addition to being a strong runner, he can also pass well.
Head coach Shane Steichen of the Colts, who was successful with fellow dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts, should find him to be a perfect fit.
Hurts was previously coached by Steichen, who served as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles for a few seasons.
Don’t go out and buy a Kellen Mond jersey if you’re a Colts fan.
In the event that he does see the field, however, don’t be shocked.
More bizarre incidents have occurred.
