Sean Mannion, a former star at Oregon State who is now playing quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, is competing with Kyle Sloter for the job as Kirk Cousins’ back-up.

The Minnesota Vikings and Sean Mannion are back together.

In order to join the Vikings’ practice squad, the former star quarterback of Oregon State re-signed with the team on Wednesday.
After the lower-back injury that forced backup quarterback Nick Mullens to be placed on injured reserve, the Vikings were in need of a new quarterback.

In the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Mannion, 31, backed up starter Kirk Cousins for two seasons.
When Cousins was forced to sit out a game against Green Bay after testing positive for Covid, Mannion made one start for the Vikings.

In the Green Bay Packers’ 37-10 defeat of the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17 of the 2021 season, Mannion completed 22 of his 36 passes for 189 yards. He hit tight end K for a touchdown with a 14-yard pass.

Prior to being released in 2022, he was with the Vikings through training camp.
The Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad was his choice.
