Rick George, the athletic director at Colorado, was merely another college sports official until December 2022.

A football division title in 2016 and appearances in both NCAA basketball tournaments were among the Buffaloes’ highlights under the former Texas Rangers executive, but there wasn’t much that set George apart from other athletic directors across the nation.

Coach Deion Sanders was brought to Boulder by George.
The Buffaloes have had successful on-field results as well, with a 4-2 start, and Colorado has laughed all the way to the bank off the sheer strength of Sanders’s personal brand.

George raised eyebrows Friday night by donning a custom “Coach Prime” jacket during Colorado’s home game against Stanford.
George appeared content to bask in his elevated profile.

Along with Sanders’ parody face and the coach’s “PRIME” logo, the coat bore the Buffaloes’ logo.

Even though it appeared posh on television, you would likely also be spending money on a new jacket if your hiring increased the local economy by millions.
