Numerous rookies have already been given important roles by the Indianapolis Colts this season.

And many people are responding to that call.
In particular, Josh Downs, a third-round pick, has outperformed a legendary franchise player through the first five weeks of play.

Through his first NFL games, Downs has the most receptions of any Colts wide receiver in history.
This accomplishment is even more remarkable given that it involved passing the franchise’s best WR.

What a mark to give Downs, who just had the best week of his young career after catching six passes for 97 yards against the Tennessee Titans.
Only behind seasoned Michael Pittman Jr., Downs leads the Colts in receptions and yards this season.

It would be nice to show Margvin Harrison’s end-of-year stat line from his rookie season in order to better contextualize Downs’ promising start to his career.
.

64 receptions, 836 yards, and 8 touchdowns were recorded in 1996.

If you use Downs’ first five-week pace, his final season stats would be as follows:.

78 receptions for 867 yards and no touchdowns.

The legendary Marvin Harrison’s rookie season yardage and reception totals could be surpassed by Downs.
We’ll keep an eye on this for the rest of the year. The Colts must be pleased with the early return on their investment in rookie WR Josh Downs.
