Caleb Navale was selected in the Fiji squad for the Tri-Series

Promising young Manly Warringah Sea Eagles striker Caleb Navale has been named in Fiji’s 20-man squad for their upcoming three-match Pacific Championship series.

Fiji face Papua New Guinea and Cook Islands in Port Moresby in the second match excluding Australia, Samoa and New Zealand.

Fiji will open their Pacific Championship campaign on October 22 when they take on the Cook Islands in Port Moresby before meeting hosts Papua New Guinea next week on October 29.

Navale’s selection caps a fantastic season for the hard-working man who won Manly’s Russ Bull Best and Fairest award for the Jersey Flegg team at the Sea Eagles showcase night last month.

Sea Eagles assistant coach Nik Wolfgramm said Navale has been the team’s most consistent offensive player all season. He completed six tries in 20 matches.

“Caleb has shown great perseverance and mental toughness in his role as a center forward, thanks to his hard work in training,” Wolfgramm said.

“A highly respected man, his teammates could always count on him in difficult moments of the match, who demonstrated the qualities of a great leader.

“Caleb finished the season as our best player for meters running, meters after contact and tackling, which is testament to the hard work he has worked to improve beyond my abilities.”
