Rap legend sends message to Deion Sanders, Buffaloes star

“That whole thing was crazy.”

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders walks the field during warm ups as the Oregon Ducks host Colorado in the Pac-12 opener Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

Like many other celebrities, Snoop Dogg has hopped on the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes bandwagon this season.

The rap star is apparently no longer content just watching the Buffs play. He wants to give players advice.

Sanders revealed Tuesday that Snoop Dogg called him after Saturday’s 48-41 loss to No. 6 USC, and he wanted to talk to Omarion Miller. The freshman wide receiver exploded on the national scene against the Trojans, catching seven passes for 196 yards in the second half of the loss.

Sanders, who referred to Snoop Dogg as a “dear friend,” said the rapper “wanted to let him know that he has a tremendous gift,” Sanders said (via USA Today). “And I don’t know what the conversation was, but I know I just handed him the phone, and I said somebody wants to talk to you.”

Sanders handed Miller the Facetime call with the rapper appearing on screen. Sanders said Miller glanced at the phone and said, “Oh my God!’”

“That whole thing was crazy,” Miller told reporters Wednesday (via USA Today).

Snoop Dogg’s message? He “was just telling me, you know, ‘Keep working.’ He liked what I did,” Miller said.

Miller, a four-star recruit out of Louisiana, had never caught a pass for Colorado before exploding against the Trojans. Now, he’s already on speaking terms with a rap legend. That sounds like an anecdote Sanders could use in his pitch as he goes after future recruits.
