Deion Sanders has a message for Shedeur skeptics

USC quarterback Caleb Williams appeared to be the best player on the field during his team’s game against Colorado on Saturday. But Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders is said to match him every step of the way.

Williams, expected to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, threw for 406 yards with six touchdowns to lead the Trojans to a 48-41 victory at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. Sanders wasn’t far behind with 371 passing yards and four touchdowns. of his own, including two crucial fourth-quarter touchdowns to give the Buffaloes a chance to mount a comeback.

Despite the Buffaloes’ unsuccessful comeback attempt, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders spoke candidly about his son Shedeur’s high level of play. Coach Prime calls Shedeur a perennial winner at every level. The elder Sanders, speaking as Shedeur’s coach and not as a father, also had a message for Colorado QB skeptics.

“The kid can play hard,” Sanders said. “I know a lot of people doubted him and said I just pushed [sic] him into the starting position. What do you call this, nepotism or something? You all should just look in the mirror and slap at what you see.

Despite Colorado’s back-to-back losses, Shedeur Sanders arguably exceeded most expectations for him entering the season. The 21-year-old has totaled 1,410 yards with 11 touchdowns in five games so far this season. He has also proven himself to be a balanced decision-maker at key positions for the Buffaloes.

Colorado will have a chance to end its two-game losing streak next Saturday against Arizona State.
