“God has a bigger plan,” Blackburn wrote on his Instagram Stories. Blackburn and Hunter were embroiled in controversy during their match this month. Blackburn hit Hunter late after a pass intended for the two-way star flew over his head. He was then hospitalized – apparently due to a lacerated spleen.

“At the end of the day, it’s football,” Hunter said in an interview with Bleacher Report on Monday after the game. Such things will happen.” “I just had to get up and fight again. Luckily the doctors stopped me because if the doctors weren’t there I would still be competing.

Coaches, teammates and fans react after Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter was hit by gunfire during the Colorado State Rams game on September 16, 2023 in Boulder.

“But we will do what we have to do to take care of him,” Sanders said. “So I know Travis like a book, he will probably want to sit out for two weeks, but we have to make sure his health is more important than this game.”

Blackburn is said to have received death threats because of the stunt.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders condemned the harsh behavior.

“Henry Blackburn was a great player and played a phenomenal game,” Sanders said. “He took a hard hit on Travis on the sideline. You can call it dirty, you can call it ‘he was just playing football.’

“But regardless, that doesn’t mean he should have to receive death threats. He’s still a young man trying to make it in life. A young man trying living his dream and hoping that he, will graduate with honors, commit to excellence and go to an NFL school. He doesn’t deserve death threats just because of one game.
